It is understood that as early as March this year, during the Huawei P30 series press conference, Huawei and Korean fashion brand Gentle Monster announced cooperation to jointly develop the first smart glasses. This product looks like regular sunglasses and has no integrated camera.
Letsgodigital reported that on August 14, Huawei applied for two trademarks under the names of Huawei “AR Glass” and Huawei “VR Glass” at EUIPO (EU Intellectual Property Office) and UK IPO (Intellectual Property Office). Both trademarks are classified as Category 9 with instructions: smart glasses, smart watches, smartphones, 3D glasses, sunglasses and glasses.
Letsgodigital said that earlier this year, Huawei has shared some details of the AR glasses being developed: Huawei's smart glasses will be equipped with voice assistants, built-in microphones and speakers, and can also make calls through smart glasses. The smart glasses are IP67 certified and are waterproof and dustproof. In addition, Huawei smart glasses will be equipped with a 2200mAh battery.
Huawei has not disclosed more information on smart AR and VR glasses. Letsgodigital speculates that smart glasses may be displayed at IFA 2019.
